Course overview

Teaching a new mother about breastfeeding is the process of educating a new mother to increase her knowledge of the benefits of breastfeeding, improve her skills necessary to successfully breastfeed her newborn baby, and enhance her ability to cope with problems that may arise. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of teaching the new mother about breastfeeding, including guidance on how to provide education to increase the new mother¿s knowledge of the benefits of breastfeeding, improve her skills necessary to successfully breastfeed, and enhance her ability to cope with problems that may arise with breastfeeding. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
