Course overview

Nurses have a long history of influencing public policy, and many current public policy issues in healthcare influence the nurse¿s ability to provide safe and effective patient care. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the power of nurses to advocate for policy change, including information on the historical impact of nurses on public policy and health care, sources of power nurses possess to influence public policy, and barriers to advocacy. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
