Course overview

An artificial eye is a concave prosthesis, or shell, that is placed over an implant to provide the appearance of a natural eye in individuals whose eye has been surgically removed (e.g., due to tumor or injury), removed due to trauma, or absent since birth. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of insertion and removal of an artificial eye, including a step-by-step procedure, and to aid in caring for the patient with this type of prosthesis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
