Course overview

Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) is an invasive procedure in which a balloon catheter is used to dilate obstructed coronary arteries in a catheterization laboratory under local anesthesia. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of providing PTCA post-procedure care including providing interventions to prevent bleeding, relieving pain, and educating the patient in preparation for discharge and self-care at home. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
