This course is based upon the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders DSM-5 published by the American Psychiatric Association (APA). The purpose of the DSM is to provide the criteria for the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders and it is used by mental health and healthcare professionals throughout the world. In addition, DSM criteria are utilized for billing purposes by major insurance companies in the US.
