Course overview
Body temperature is regulated by the hypothalamus in response to temperature receptors in the skin, spinal cord, and brain. Core temperature reflects the temperature of blood flowing through the hypothalamus. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the procedure for providing parent education about body temperature measurement in infants and children, including a step-by-step process and the benefits of parent education on this topic. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
