Course overview
Nitrous oxide (N2O) is a chemical compound that is administered to patients for medical and dental purposes via inhalation to provide short-term, easily reversible anesthesia, sedation, and/or analgesia without complications. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of administering N2O, including information on safe use of the drug, contraindications to use, and required equipment for administration, and to aid in caring for the patient requiring N2O. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
