Course overview
Foreign bodies in the esophagus typically have been deliberately or accidentally swallowed, subsequently becoming lodged within the esophagus, and can be large pieces of incompletely chewed food, fish bones, coins, or other swallowed items. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of assisting with esophageal foreign body removal including its clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in caring for the patient with a foreign body in the esophagus. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
