Course overview
Invasive fungal infection (IFI) continues to be a cause of significant morbidity and mortality among very-low-birth-weight (VLBW; i.e., birth weight < 1,500 g) and extremely low-birth-weight (ELBW; i.e., birth weight < 1,000 g) infants in the NICU. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of preventing IFI in the newborn with fluconazole prophylaxis, risk factors, and dosage recommendations, and to aid in caring for infants with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
