PATIENT REPOSITIONING IN THE POSTOPERATIVE PERIOD

Course overview

Patients recovering from anesthesia are at increased risk for pain, inadequate lung expansion, and pressure injuries after surgery if they are not able to reposition themselves. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of patient repositioning in the postoperative period, including general principles of repositioning to reduce pain, promote adequate respiratory status, and reduce risk for tissue injury, and to aid in caring for the patient following surgery. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
