Course overview

Many times as physical and occupational therapists who treat children, we find it difficult to keep the child engaged in activities which help them to reach their functional therapeutic goals. Adding to your toolbox by integrating the therapeutic yoga principles outlined in this course allows you to have a more holistic and empowering approach to your sessions. It also includes the child as an eager and active participant in the therapeutic program. Through integration of therapeutic yoga principles into your treatment plan, you empower your child to be successful, get him or her excited to participate in therapy and will find they actually participate in a home program! This course equips the participant with the skills to practice yoga therapy for the child with hypotonia, hypertonia, musculoskeletal imbalance, chronic and/or progressive disorders, and sensory dysfunction. You will learn to perform a unique and functional assessment to determine the needs of each child and to utilize breathing/pranyama, asanas/postures, sound therapy, and relaxation techniques to improve the child¿s overall health, well-being and function.
