Impairment of the vision and hearing senses in children can have a pervasive impact on a range of childhood occupations across all environmental contents. This course discusses children with vision impairment and the functional implications of that vision loss on their everyday lives, as well as hearing impairment and the effect that hearing loss has on children as social beings. Particular attention is paid to children with dual sensory impairment and the unique manifestation this condition can present. Includes strategies that occupational therapists can utilize to enhance their intervention with children with sensory impairments.
