Description This course introduces functional strength training for the pediatric client and explains the difference between typical strength training vs functional strength training. The course reviews the muscular system and discusses how abnormal tone affects strength. The course explores functional strength training through various avenues such as Body Weight Training, Transverse Training, Core Exercises, PNF, Dynamic Stretching/Dynamic Exercises, Upper Extremity Exercises, and Climbing Activities. Adaptations to decrease or increase the challenge are discussed, as well as how to ¿make it fun¿ for the pediatric client. Illustrations are provided for each. Pediatric case examples and correlating goals and assessments make the course clinically useful.
