Course overview

Wound closure is the process of bringing the edges of a wound together or otherwise treating a wound to promote healing and reduce scarring. Wound closure methods range from minimally invasive to highly invasive, depending on the type of wound involved. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the general principles of wound closure, including the stages of wound healing and the various methods of wound closure, and to aid in caring for the patient requiring a wound closure procedure. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
