PERIOPERATIVE WASTE MANAGEMENT: MAINTAINING ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY

Course overview

Perioperative waste (PW) refers to disposable, and reusable materials used in a surgical procedure; various other perioperative materials; and human tissue removed from a patient¿s body during the course of surgery. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of managing PW to maintain environmental safety, including what is involved in managing PW, risk factors, and outcome data along with management goals for the healthcare provider. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
