Learner Objectives: As a result of having attended the meeting, the participants should have had the opportunity to: Case Studies in Wound Healing: to enhance understanding of the systematic approach to wound bed preparation; introduce a concept of comprehensive wound assessment & management using the acronym ¿O2dd Medicine¿; illustrate each element of the mnemonic with a pertinent A Novel Wound Scoring System: The grading of wounds is important in order to ascertain their seriousness and to direct their management. A logical grading system also facilitates comparative effectiveness research (CER) and the validation of meaningful clinically important improvement (MCII) for making decisions about wound management. Four wound scoring systems predominate in the wound literature. None are comprehensive enough to adequately describe a wound and make CER/MCII valid conclusions, although each has special features that should be integrated into a truly valid and reliable wound grading system. The Wound Score I propose meets this goal and is strongly recommended for the evaluation and management of all wounds as well as CER studies and MCII determinations. Surgical Treatment of Chronic Wounds: To introduce a method for wound care that accelerates closure through mitigating the effect of wound biofilms and the use of delayed closure NPWT: The basics through advancement to instillation therapy: Understanding the mechanisms of healing with Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT); describe the impact NPWT has on cellular response; Understand the effect NPWT has on the overall wound healing process Subject Matter: ¿Case Studies in Wound Healing ¿A Novel Wound Scoring System ¿Surgical Treatment of Chronic Wounds ¿NPWT: The basics through advancement to instillation therapy Teaching Methods: ¿Online video of speakers lecture with PPT slides embedded. ¿Exam questions for each lecture Evaluation Methods: Evaluation is offered online after completion of the activity, which evaluates the effectiveness of the meeting, that no bias was presented and overall objectives were met.
