Course overview

The central nervous system (CNS) sends and receives signals via the brain and spinal cord. The peripheral nervous system sends and receives information to the rest of the body. Peripheral neuropathy occurs as a result of damage to the peripheral nerves (PNS), often causing weakness, numbness and pain, usually in the hands and feet. In this course, Michael Akong, an experienced Acupuncturist with over 25 scientific publications and eight U.S. patents in biomedical research, focuses on treating peripheral neuropathy using Oriental Medicine. The focus of this course will be on symptoms, causes and frequency, learning and memory effects, treatments and contraindications, and treatment protocol.
