Course overview

With so many options available in today's market, many rehab professionals lack a thorough understanding of possible problems that can plague a home modification project. Challenges that can crop up include detailed home evaluation reports, efficient space relationships, specialty products and the of concepts of universal and accessible home design. With the aid of this course, therapists will enhance their base knowledge of home modification and improve their related problem solving skills. This course emphasizes the concept of a team approach in which all participants work toward achieving the same goal of a beautiful and functional home environment for their clients. Scott Anderle, President and owner of Specialized Home Design, begins the course with an identification of the professionals generally involved in home modification and several case studies, including "before" examples, constructions and completion examples. Therapists are shown how to define and differentiate between accessible and universal home design and learn about specialty equipment and their roles within the home environment.
