SIMPLE CONTACT: A MUST FOR YOUR PAIN MANAGEMENT TOOLBOX - SOD PT
Tracking # 20-501084
Course overview
Simple Contact is an increasingly popular manual care technique that emphasizes the reflexive reaction of the body to gentle touch at specific sites. It begins with the premise that the body's own corrective processes are generally sufficient to produce enough mechanical force to reduce pain and normalize function. Since this process is unconsciously motivated, technique must support and encourage the patient's ongoing activity. This course focuses on simplifying manual care by handling others in pain to promote corrective movement, relief and rehabilitation. It introduces the practicing therapist to an understanding of their patient with persistent pain in light of the newest discoveries of neuroscience. Peer reviewed literature is used to make these insights clinically relevant and immediately applicable to common clinical problems. The Simple Contact technique is demonstrated. Ideomotion for the relief of mechanical deformation leading to pain is discussed in detail and studies describing its use as a movement therapy in conjunction to traditional manual care are provided.
