Course overview

It is important to understand how and why injuries can occur when practicing Yoga. Students will acquire a basic knowledge and understanding of Yoga in order to be able to better communicate with clients who practice Yoga and to give educated advice on how to prevent injuries. This course explores the proven benefits of yoga, but also brings attention to potential injuries and danger zones that therapists need to be mindful of. Specific poses are demonstrated, including Forward Fold, Cobra, Lotus, Plow and Shoulderstand. Preventative care is discusses, as are knee injuries, hyperlordosis, neck and shoulder pain, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Herniated discs.
