Course overview
The number of people in the United States currently infected with hepatitis C is triple that of HIV/AIDS, more than five times that of Parkinson¿s and more than ten times the number of Americans with multiple sclerosis. One to five people will die from the consequences of long-term infection: liver cancer or cirrhosis. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), for every 100 people infected with hepatitis C about 25 will clear the virus, and 75 will develop long term infection, and 5 to 20 (of the 100) people might develop cirrhosis over a period of 20 to 30 years.
