Course overview
After completion of this program the learner will be able to assess and manage trauma victims. Knowledge of the primary survey, secondary survey and definitive treatment. Knowledge of airway control with cervical spine protection. Identify a tension pneumothorax, massive hemothorax, flail chest and open chest wounds with management of these victims. Discuss classes of hypovolaemia amd management of hypovolaemia. Discuss disorders of the central nervous system. Understand the Glasgow Coma Scale. Identify complete aortic transection, cardiac contusion, diaphragmatic rupture and management of these victims. Identify head injury victims and management of victims with serious head injuries. Discuss circulation and haemorrhage control. Discuss anesthesia for trauma patients.
