Course overview

This 4 contact hour course is intended for RN's, LPN's, CNS, ARNP's and other health care providers. Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course you should be able to: •Identify the growing epidemic in the U.S. involving prescription drugs. •Identify who is being affected by the abuse and misuse of drugs. •Identify which drugs are most commonly involved in overdose. •Understand the monetary effect of drug abuse. •Describe the risk factors for drug overdose. •Define and identify prescription painkillers. •Identify the group most affected by prescription painkillers. •Identify the state with the highest prescription rate. •List strategies to prevent painkiller addiction and overdose. •Identify treatment plans and strategies to overcome addiction.
