Course Objectives: 1. Explain the spread of the Zika virus from Africa to the southern and central Americas 2. Describe the symptoms of the viral disease and the side effects being attributed to the Zika infection. 3. Be familiar with testing and treatment of the Zika virus, including personal prevention strategies and mosquito riddance policies. 4. Have knowledge of the ongoing world organizations involved in the research and management of the Zika epidemic. 5. Define the special precautions and guidelines for healthcare professionals and those recommended guidelines for pregnancy in affected areas or women at risk. 6. List the factors that contribute to the difficulty of the management and spread of the ZIka virus.
