Professional Ethics - 2 CE Hours

Course overview

This is a 2 CE hour course that is designed to provide massage therapists and other healthcare professionals with specific guidelines for how to ethically handle both ambiguous and routine situations they may encounter within their own practice or employment. Key terms and concepts will be explained such as the Hippocratic Oath, harassment, and “red flags” to provide students with a further understanding of how to deal with conflicts that can arise between massage therapists, healthcare providers, their clients, and even other co-workers. Suggestions for ethical “fire drills”—a type of role-playing to be practiced by the students—will also be covered to provide participants with real-world practice in a safe and supportive setting. In addition, a thorough list of resources and suggestions will be provided to ensure that students know when, how, and where to reach out for help when a professional resource or authority is necessary. A secondary, multiple-choice evaluation will also be given to students completing this course to ensure that the students have mastered the learning outcomes for this class.
