Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) refers to strains of the S. aureus bacterium that are resistant to the antimicrobial effects of methicillin and other beta-lactam antibiotics. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the procedure for identifying MRSA in neonates. Readers may explore any or all of the topics.
