This course describes the range of sports science with which a sports massage therapist should be familiar to adequately treat athletes. It includes information about sports medicine, sports biomechanics, sports psychology, sports nutrition and sports physiology. When you finish this course you will be able to: •Understand the types and variety of sports science knowledge required for a sports massage therapist. •Describe the sports medicine team and the role of important players. •Define role of the five disciplines of sports science and the tests, areas of knowledge and/or techniques and therapies used in and requirements of each. •Explain the gait cycle and why this knowledge is important to massage therapists. •Outline nutrition guidelines for athletes.
