Course overview

This course is describes some fundamental elements of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder while emphasizing that this disorder stems from the client¿s exposure to ¿trauma¿ and not from an inward anxiety etiology. Moreover, this class explores the more in depth as well as established research on what parts of the brain that are affected by PTSD and the subsequent comorbidity risk of substance use disorder and suicide. The course is divided into three sections: The Impact of Trauma, The Images of Trauma, and The Imprint of Trauma. This class also tracks PTSD¿s existence throughout history and its clinical configuration throughout the DSM (Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental disorders). The course concludes with a treatment protocol and shows what imprints are within the minds of those who suffer with PTSD.
