PERSEVERATION AND STIMULUS-BOUND BEHAVIOR ASSOCIATED WITH TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY
Tracking # 20-524086
Course overview
Someone who perseverates may repeat elements of the previous response or even the complete response, even though it is no longer correct. Perseveration is associated with damage to the frontal lobes and is often observed by SLPs and other therapists while testing confrontation and generative naming, writing and drawing. Stimulus-bound behavior and environmental dependency syndrome are also associated with frontal lobe damage. People who exhibit SBB may be compelled to use objects the way the objects are designed to be used, even when instructed not to do so. EDS, a condition in which the immediate environment may trigger more complex and integrated, albeit still illogical and inapt responses, is also associated with frontal lobe damage.
