A review of a cognitive-behavioral approach to treating addiction. Cognitive-behavioral coping skills treatment (CBT) is a short-term, focused approach to helping drug-dependent individuals become abstinent from cocaine and other substances. Very simply put, CBT attempts to help patients recognize, avoid, and cope.
