ROOTING THE SPIRIT: THE TREATMENT OF NEUROLOGICAL AND PSYCHIATRIC DISORDERS WITH SUN SI MIAO'S 'GHOST POINTS'

'Ghost possessions' are probably the earliest recorded pathogenic factors in Chinese medicine, dating back to the Xia dynasty (2194-1728 B.C.). More than two thousand years later, in his book 'Prescriptions worth a Hundred Gold Coins', Sun Si Miao summarized the understanding and the clinical protocols for the use of thirteen 'ghost points' for diverse and complicated clinical situations such as neurological disorders, extreme Shen or psychiatric disorders, growths and tumors. In over twenty years of clinical experience I have found 'ghost point' treatments to be effective in a surprising number of infertility patients, especially in difficult issues like polycystic ovaries, uterine myomas, endometriosis and unexplained infertility not responding to other treatments. In this lecture we will be exploring an alternative approach to diagnosing and treating complicated infertility issues using a number of Sun Si Miao's 'ghost points'. Specific treatment protocols, diagnosis and needling techniques will be discussed in order to present practitioners with a powerful tool for enhancing clinical results.
