Course overview
1. Define healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and multidrug resistant organisms (MDROs). 2. Describe standard precautions and the crucial role that hand hygiene plays in preventing the spread of HAIs. 3. Discuss risk factors, signs and symptoms, transmission and prevention, treatment, and prognosis of three serious illnesses associated with HAIs and MDROs. 4. List nursing interventions appropriate to prevent the spread of nosocomial infections.
