Course overview
Discusses the importance of sleep in athletics and performance along with decreased sleep associated with the diseases from obesity, cancer, type 2 diabetes, to heart disease. Examines circadian rhythms, the association with sleep, diseases, growth hormones, and their recovery corollaries. Identifies the different sleep variables in sleep from onset and waking, sleep duration, and sleep quality along with the sleep stages and cycles. Specifies how to educate patients about jet leg, simulated jet leg, and good sleep practices.
