Before deciding which exam to take, technicians should first check with their state’s requirements to determine which test is recognized for certification. Both organizations are accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). The PTCB has certified over 525,365 pharmacy technicians and is recognized by all 50 states even though regulations to work as a pharmacy technician vary from state to state. The NHA is recognized by 32 state boards of pharmacy.
