Diversity: Embracing the LGBT Workforce

Course overview

Diversity is a constant in the news and in many organizations. We hear the constant push to have equal pay for genders based on job duties. We are asked to complete affirmative action reports with the breakdown on demographics for the organization and within the management team. We have to complete analysis of those served weighted with those serving. So what is diversity? Diversity is accepting that each individual is unique, and recognizing individual differences. Its understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions contained within each individual. The concept of diversity encompasses acceptance, understanding and respect. This course addresses a lesser discussed topic in the diversity field – diversity and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered (also known as LGBT) community as co-workers.
