Course overview
This module will provide the nurse with information on how to support adults and children through the process of grief. It addresses death vigil support and visit at time of death through referral to bereavement services. On completion of this module, the learner will be able to: Identify the potential types of grief experienced by the bereaved. Explain the role of the nurse in grief counseling, adults and children death and death vigil support. Describe the process of life review and the tools available to assist. Describe the dying process including management of symptoms, end of life visitation, transfer to bereavement services and formal closure activities.
