Course overview
The goal of this module is to assist the orthopedic nurse in recognizing, preventing and managing medical complications in orthopedic patients to ensure best patient outcomes. On completion of this module, the learner will be able to: Identify the most common medical conditions that occur in orthopedic patients Describe preventative strategies for these conditions Distinguish between emergent and non-emergent medical conditions Relate the treatment options to the specific condition and evaluate the efficacy for the patient Explain why orthopedic patients are at risk for medical co-morbidities
