Course overview

The number of people in the U.S. who are HIV positive continues to grow by tens of thousands annually, which leads to more opportunities for HIV transmission. If the current standards for testing, treatment, and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) remain unchanged, more than 265,000 new HIV cases in the U.S. could occur. According to the National HIV/AIDS Strategy, the three primary goals are reducing HIV incidence, increasing access to care and optimizing health outcomes, and reducing HIV-related health disparities. In order for these goals to be achieved, clinicians must become educated regarding standards of care in the testing, treatment, and PrEP for HIV.
