Course overview

This course explores information about a fictitious healthcare facility. It includes a summary of the problem analysis that discusses the leadership style this company is struggling with and is followed by constructive suggestions by the author for remedying the situation. Theories and concepts from the subjects of supervision, management, and organizational behavior are used to offer guidance in solving these problems, as are several peer-reviewed articles relative to the field of management. The purpose of this course is to provide managers and supervisors in healthcare settings with practical solutions that can be easily implemented to create beneficial changes in their organizations. The research was conducted through online (Internet) sources of peer-reviewed articles/journals and the offline (non-Internet) source of a textbook on organizational behavior and the author’s personal experience and education at the baccalaureate level in this field. This course meets the 1-hour CE requirement in administration and supervision for Director/Supervisor Licensees set forth by the Florida Board of Clinical Laboratory Personnel.
