Course overview
In this activity, we cover pathophysiology of ventilation, pathophysiology of perfusion, pathophysiology of gas exchange, arterial blood gases, rapid sequence intubation, capnography, and nursing care of the mechanically ventilated patient. After completing this activity, nurses should be able to: recall the pathophysiology of ventilation, perfusion and gas exchange; outline a plan of care for patients who require rapid sequence intubation; and inspect capnography as a measurement of ventilation and perfusion.
