Dr. Visscher discusses the conclusions of her recently published study showing that frequent use of lotions/creams may mitigate the damaging effects of repetitive hand hygiene. She also discusses how intensive treatment of health care workers irritant contact dermatitis may be required to counteract the skin compromise and minimize the negative impact on infection control.
