Course overview
This course will describe RBC molecular typing and potential advantages over serologic typing. It will also discuss applications of the principles of RBC molecular typing to the following: patients with SCD at risk of alloimmunization, role of RH genetic variation in alloimmunization and potential for RBC genotype matching in SCD patients, antenatal evaluation and management of pregnant women at risk for HDFN, and paternal zygosity testing. HPA molecular typing and application in transfusion medicine will also be examined.
