Objectives: The goal of this module is to provide the nurse with an overview of the care provided to ESRD patients undergoing the peritoneal dialysis procedure. Upon completion of this module, the nurse will be able to: Describe the principles of peritoneal dialysisIdentify suitable candidates for peritoneal dialysisRelate the anatomy & physiology to peritoneal access placement Examine the mechanisms that contribute to water and solute clearance in peritoneal dialysis and how they are measured List 3 medical complications of peritoneal dialysisInterpret effective components of an effective patient training program Explain the important components of a program to support ongoing patient needs
