Objectives: The goal of this module is to provide the nurse with insight into transplantation as a method of renal replacement therapy and the subsequent care of the patient. Upon completion of this module, the nurse will be able to: Identify 2 sources of donors for kidney transplantation Recognize 3 strategies to increase the number of available organ donorsDescribe post-operative care of the transplant patient Summarize complications that may occur in the early or late stages of patient management Differentiate transplant medications used to prevent episodes of rejection Discuss the ethical debate surrounding organ donation
