Objectives: The goal of this module is to review the general principles of flight transportation of the critically ill patient. On completion of this module, the learner will be able to: Discuss the physiological stressors of air transport Describe pre-mission preparation and review flight safety protocolsReview the process of securing a landing zone, establishing an Incident Command System and radio operations Articulate the process of patient hand-off and flight crew resource management Discuss ELT, navigation, transporter codes and post-crash survival principles
