Course overview

Healthy People 2020 identifies health and healthcare as a pillar of the social determinants of health. In fact, it may be the most salient social determinant of health, as this pillar encompasses something very tangible to individuals: their health and how they interact with the healthcare system to improve their health. This course provides an in-depth and interactive analysis of this pillar and how it affects the health and well-being of individuals. You will learn about three critical components: access to healthcare, access to primary care, and health literacy. You will also learn how to leverage this knowledge as a health care provider to improve your patients’ health outcomes. This course is the fourth in a five-part series of courses on the social determinants of health.
