Course overview

The purpose of this educational activity is: •To provide licensed professionals with current relevant information in order to identify and intervene in situations of IPV/DV; and •To meet the mandatory training requirement for licensure in Florida. Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to: Define intimate partner violence/domestic violence/elder abuse, particularly in the state of Florida. Discuss the statistics related to intimate partner violence/domestic violence. Describe the effects of intimate partner violence/domestic violence on victims. Identify risk factors related to being a victim of violence and for being a perpetrator of violence. Describe how to initiate the topic of intimate partner violence/domestic violence with your patients. Discuss interventions for intimate partner violence/domestic violence identified this course. Describe reporting requirements related to intimate partner violence/domestic violence. Identify victim services and other resources in Florida related to intimate partner violence/domestic violence.
