Det Norske Veritas (DNV): A New Option on the Table for Accreditation
Tracking # 20-579561
Course overview
Eight years ago, healthcare organizations seeking accreditation used The Joint Commission or the American Osteopathic Association. Today a new option is available: The Det Norske Veritas GL. DNV was originally founded in 1864 Norway as a “risk management company whose sole purpose was to safeguard life, property, and environment all while practicing transparency” for maritime processes. However, as the company grew, company leaders identified the same needs to standardize and improve quality in the delivery of healthcare services and sought approval from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid for consideration as an accrediting organization. This continuing education module provides an overview of the healthcare accreditation process and the changes in process since the introduction of the Det Norske Veritas GL agency into the provider circle.
