Asthma is a serious health concern in the United States, affecting more than 24 million Americans, and is one of the most common long-term diseases in children. It is crucial for children with asthma and their parents to become educated regarding their disease process, including triggers and asthma management. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), all people with asthma need to have an asthma action plan in place in order to help control their asthma. When an asthma action plan is developed for a child with asthma, it allows the child, family, and others who are involved in the child’s daily care to become aware of asthma triggers and provides simple guidelines to follow for asthma treatment.
