Course overview

The goal of this module is to provide nurses with information about IV therapy-related anatomy and physiology and peripheral IV therapy practice. Upon completion of this module, the participant will be able to: Describe the vascular, pulmonary and systemic circulation systems as related to IV therapy Define an aberrant artery Name the three layers of a vein Identify the common sites for intraosseous Describe the types of needles and catheters utilized in peripheral IV therapy Name the veins that can be utilized in the adult for peripheral IV therapy Explain the INS Standard of Practice for replacing peripheral IV catheters Describe the proper procedure for discontinuing a peripheral IV catheter
